The gite, together with the nearby owner's house, is set in 6,000 square metres of land. It offers you the possibilty of escaping to a peaceful setting for a really relaxing holiday. These are some of the features to be found in the grounds.
The 10m x 5m swimming pool, is enclosed by a stone wall for security and privacy, and is set at the edge of the extensive orchard of cherry, apple, pear, mirabelle, quince, plum, and walnut trees, while in the other direction are open fields. It is open from the beginning of May until the end of October, and during the peak and high season is heated to a minimum temperature of 24°C. The pool is a great place for the whole family to cool off, or simply just to soak up the sun on the sunbeds and seating around the pool. For those liking some shade, there is also a parasol. Opening out from the kitchen area is a partially covered patio, with table and chairs for outside dining. This in turn opens out onto the planted private courtyard, with a BBQ and sun beds. The courtyard faces south-west, and is ideal for sun-bathing.
There is a large lawn (1000 sq m) in front of the gite, on the other side of the private driveway leading to the property. The lawn contains a boules court, and a swing for children. Although there are some shrubs planted to add interest, there is still plenty of room for ball games, badminton, etc. The nearest main road is about 400 metres away, and although a small lane runs past the end of the property, there is very little traffic, ensuring a safe play area for children.
There is a magnificent orchard of apple, pear, quince, plum, cherry, mirabelle and walnut trees opposite the owners house. You can stroll through the orchard and appreciate the peace and quiet, and the views over the open countryside. A real haven of tranquility!
The gite is located at the western end of a small hamlet, which means that there are uninterupted views towards the south, the west, and the north. In all three directions you are looking over open countryside, where the view changes every year according to which crops have been planted that year.
The uninterupted view towards the west gives the possibilty of watching the spectacular sunsets which are often the norm in the summer, whilst sipping a glass of local Chinon or Vouvray wine of course!. The absence of light pollution also gives amazing views of the sky on cloudless nights. On these occasions full moons are spectacular, as are moonless nights when the stars are abundant.
